David Hawksworth's restaurant was a multiple winner.

VANCOUVER—Hawksworth is the big winner in Vancouver magazine’s 2012 view of the city’s best restaurants.
The restaurant in the Rosewood Hotel Georgia, owned by David Hawksworth, won restaurant of the year, best new restaurant, chef of the year for Hawksworth, and best upscale restaurant, to sweep the major categories.
It was also named best design and employs the city’s best sommelier, Terry Threlfall.
“If there was any question whether David Hawksworth would have trouble making a comeback after a three-year hiatus, he put it to rest when he opened the doors of Hawksworth last spring,” said a judge, quoted in Vancouver Magazine.
Other top awards went to pastry chef of the year, Thierry Busset, owner of Thierry, a patisserie on Alberni Street.
Judges for Vancouver magazine said, “Thierry crams his shop with these classics: palmiers, Viennoiserie, chocolates, and, especially, macarons.”
Danielle Tatarin, who works the counter as bar manager for The Keefer Bar, is the 2012 bartender of the year.
The magazine’s editors said, “Tatarin set about creating a space that’s part apothecary, part laboratory; that channels the spirit of its surroundings while being nothing like anything the city had seen before.”
