George Condos joins Arby's

ATLANTA, GA—Arby’s Restaurant Group has a new chief operating officer, a man who spent a good part of his career selling doughnuts and coffee, and for a shorter period, ice cream.

Now George Condos has sandwiches in his cart.

The quick-service chain based in Atlanta, GA announced the appointment of Condos as COO last week.

He replaced Diana Petrovich-Tao who left after a year on the job.

Condos has 30 years experience in the restaurant industry, most of them with Dunkin’Brands Inc. where he was senior vice-president and brand officer, as well as vice-president of marketing, development and operations.

In 2007 he was named chief executive officer of Friendly’s Ice Cream chain which was sold later that year to Sun Capital Partners.

In 2010 he was hired by Sun Capital as interim CEO of Bar Louie Restaurants.

Arby’s, which was split off from Wendy’s and then sold to Roark Capital Group in July 2011, has about 3,600 units, more than 100 of them in Canada
