TORONTO—Vij’s in Vancouver is the best restaurant in Canada, according to a group of chefs and food, travel and lifestyle writers—and one financial guy.

Their choices for Top 50 Restaurants in Canada are posted on vacay.ca,, a website  run by sales, marketing and media professionals.

The website describes itself this way: “Vacay.ca is produced by award-winning Canadian journalists and travel experts who use their wealth of experience, knowledge and industry contacts to deliver authoritative information about the best places to see, sleep and eat in the country.”

The next four restaurants on the list, in this order, are: Langdon Hall, Cambridge, ON; Joe Beef, Montreal; The Black Hoof, Toronto; Atelier, Ottawa (People’s Choice winner).

Seventeen of the 50 are in British Columbia, one in Alberta, 17 in Ontario, nine in Quebec, one in Nova Scotia, one in Prince Edward Island, and four in Newfoundland.
