Delta hotel revamp in Maritimes includes restaurants
HALIFAX—A 6,000-square-foot restaurant and lounge will open this summer in the Delta Barrington hotel.
Called Tempo, the new dining and drinking spot in the Halifax property of Delta Hotels & Resorts will have seating for 70 in the dining room and 35 in the lounge.
It will take over two spaces previously occupied in Barrington Place Shops by Maritime Travel and Altamira Financial Services.
Last year, two restaurants in another property, the Delta Halifax, were closed down and a new one opened in their place, called Harbour City Bar and Grill. This was part of a renovation that included the lobby. Currently, the Delta Fredericton in New Brunswick is undergoing a complete renovation.
Delta Barrington regional vice-president Stuart Jolliffe told The Chronical Herald that Delta is renovating all eight of its locations in the Atlantic provinces as part of a company-wide makeover.
McKay Wong Strategic Design of Toronto is working on Tempo’s interior design.
Tempo will have its own street-front entrance and a takeout deli section where downtown workers can grab lunch.
Joliffe said that the hotel chain is working on creating restaurants that have “stand-alone appeal.”
Phone and e-mail message to Joliffe from Restaurant News to obtain more information were not answered.
